Bal Raksha Bharat
Given that pneumonia and diarrhoea are the major threats to children globally, Project Breathe of Life focuses on combating childhood pneumonia between 0–5 years old and strengthening the health system. The initiative, supported by Harish and Bina Shah Foundation, is implemented by Bal Raksha Bharat, in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir.
The initiative is a joint collaboration between the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir and Bal Raksha Bharat. The project started in the year 2023 and is implemented across 8 districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The project focuses on reducing the prevalence of childhood pneumonia significantly below the national average, focusing on system strengthening by building the capacities of medical officers and para-medic staff; equip front-line workers like ASHA, ANM and AWW with the knowledge to identify children with pneumonia; improve community awareness-based knowledge and minimize the possible risks and factors contributing to the deadly disease of childhood pneumonia.
